  3. Just had a listen Mel. Very nice! I like it. I will go over the lyric. Changing the title now.

  4. Your lyrics seem fine to me Mel. There are a few that are not spelled correctly, but that is an easy fix. And when you sing the word migrant you sing "meee-grant", instead of "myyy-grant". Otherwise good job! The page has been updated!

  5. So if you want to do a re-sing and then send up the dry stem, we will proceed! I like it!

  6. TKS thats cool ...and yes I will sing it tomorrow new in and give you a note when its uploaded! Great you like it! Big Hugs! And until soon! Good day

  7. I have some ideas. Having stems to work with is good. Trying to stay organized. Keep things moving. πŸ‘

  10. Hei Fred, not sure what a gtr stream is....I made the correct vocal track now and loaded up as wav dry version for mix....find it in project. Looking forward to mix and so....have fun and tks for doing this with me! Happy day

    ReplyDelete
  11. No not "stream", I said "stem". You just sent up a vocal "stem". It is the part by itself. Gtr by itself is guitar stem. Ok thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Not sure about parts of this vocal stem Mel. Where you go up high and hold it sounds a little off. Also we only need mono vocal stems. Sending stereo is twice the filesize.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hei Fred, sorry for out of tune...I need to resing it...unfortunately I am busy next days I need to work. So please be patient for some days...I try to get it done asap! Will send a note

  14. Understood Mel. Take your time.

  21. Oh gosh... Sorry! I didn't scroll on my phone property. Of course, the lyrics are there! I'll give some harmonies a go tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Laura I have the stems for this project. Maybe you feel a sax part for this? I am sure Mel and the guys will welcome your additions.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hei Sorry you all :-) I was out for funeral of my hubbies dad and not online. I hope all is fine and my new vocal Tracks are correct...I did send a link to Fred to please load it for me cause my time was so short ....anything I have to add or is missing? Please let me know dear friends! From tomorrow on I hope to come to normal music days again...yours Mel

  24. So sorry to hear of the death in your family Mel. If your 3 vocal stems are similar to your demo (on the page now), I think it will work well with Laura's coming backing vocals. I will try them soon. πŸ’–

    ReplyDelete
  25. Laura, I see in the files area you submitted 2 tracks. I like what I am hearing. Mel can find then and listen as well. It shows potential Laura. I know from experience that you will come in with another track and fatten that up. 😎

I know Mel is waiting on me to post mixes from her stems. I am addressing that now.

  26. Hi all. I have uploaded a few additional tracks today, in which we have two harmony parts going on. I am not sure about some of the 'bits'. We can decide what to keep and what's still needed if you like the general ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I see your files Laura! I will grab them!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ok I want to put these 3 vocal stems in players on the page to compare and decide which to use, and then I'll start mixing Laura's backing vox in. Here is rought mix of vocal stem 1 from Mel.
Right click and open in new window πŸ‘‰πŸΌLINK

This is in the files area on the page and in a new player up top too.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hello All, heard your rough mix one.....can I hear the others too? Would be cool to compare :-) Have all a good day from yours Mel

    ReplyDelete
  30. I just put the #2 voc stem rough mix in another player at the top of the page for comparison.

Right click and open in new window πŸ‘‰πŸΌLINK

    ReplyDelete
  31. I like #2 stem a little better. Will put #3 stem mix up soon. Having these in the players helps immediate compare.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like mix 2 better Fred......its more natural .....and more smooth bedded in the instruments in my eyes...what do you think of the third one.....from 1 and 2 I clearly like 2 more...

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am going to send up #3 as well, and we will attempt a mix with some of Laura's additions, and see how it develops. Should be fun. Because you send dry stems as you have, we can also use best of several takes. I will get #3 mixed and up as well.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Remember the site link is at the top of this comment. link up there.

    ReplyDelete
  35. You can hear in players on page. It feels like Mel is warming up in later takes.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 3 is pretty good! Will render now.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ok here is the rough mix with stem #3. This is pretty good I think.

and is also in a new player here:

  38. The clock times on those players should line up with one another. You can compare excerpts of the different mixes by pausing the play and taking them all to the same clock time paused. The hit play, and stop on first, stop hit play on 2nd, then stop and hit play on 3rd, and hear the differences immediately. These players are great for comparing takes.

  39. In general I think #3 was better. I am not sure of the key changes, but it felt pretty close to me. Not bad.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hi. I think that #3 is sounding really good!

    ReplyDelete

    1. She did a better job of jumping key vocally like that, that I would. I would have to visit a keyboard and find the notes she's singing to have any opinion of the notes. I think she found the key. Following jazz scales is not easy. I mixed her own against the band purposely to test intonation. It's there as far as I can tell.

    2. Sorry for typos. Mixed her down, and than I would. πŸ§“

  41. 2 or three....I like as well some parts in end of 1....ouf difficult....please feel free to choose...maybe I am to near that and others can better judge :-)) I am for sure happy with what you mix :-))

    ReplyDelete
  42. I can make the entire set of stems available to everyone once we are happy with them as we work together. I am enjoying this ladies! πŸ’

    ReplyDelete
  43. We can do something different if we run into problems. So I will move to mixing Laura's stems against mix 3. The other stems will be there is we need them. Laura, I am curious how your sax would sound in there. I am going to assemble 2 new harmony stems from Laura now. Excited!

    ReplyDelete
  44. THAT's not an easy thing to do with the key changes. WOW!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hi m shall I re-record the harmonies? If so, which version?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Laura, let me try what you sent up and see how it fits with v3. I am planning to put this together today. Might not need to redo anything.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ok looks like you are correct about re-sing to her #3 stem mix. The first harmony fit well in places. The 2nd one less. So in general I think your instincts to try it against her #3 mix is right Laura.

  48. Ok... Got it! I'll try to record a bit tomorrow evening.

  49. Hi all,
I posted a few files:). Have a listen and see what you think...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Listened to the overview. Nice! I will get to work.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Got Laura's stem imported. Laura, first thing I did was convert stereo render to mono. Save as mono there and cut your filesize in half. I am convinced that if I finess the mix a little this will be great. Imported and saved. Now I will go to work.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Cool! Shall I record only mono next time then?

    ReplyDelete
  53. The rendering can be set to mono. It always records mono. When you save stereo they are duplicate mono tracks. I have your initial vocal in and it sounds pretty good. After that I need to listen some more.

    ReplyDelete
  54. That makes sense. Thank you, Freddy!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I will work on this some today hopefully.

  57. I think I will go to final on this. I had thought about sax lead on this too but maybe it's fine with this arrangement. It had actually entered my mind to do soft horn section. soft big band.
